twitter-analytics-and-visualization-tools

After researching over a thousand Twitter Tools for the Twitter Tools Book I came across many Twitter analytics and visualization tools.  These Twitter tools were designed to add value by presenting a different way to visualize or analyze your tweets, the people in your network, and the tweets from the people in your network.

Many tools tried to add value and failed.  At least they tried.

The following tools, however, stand out in my mind as exceptional or entertaining and I recommend you check them out if you want to analyze and visualize your activity on Twitter.

1. The Archivist

The Archivist was built by Mix Online, an opinionated group of designers and developers at Microsoft.

Some of the cool features of this tool include:

  • Top Users
  • Top Words
  • Top URLs
  • Tweet vs. Retweet Ratio
  • Sources (Tools) Tweets are sent with

2. SocialBro

SocialBro is a powerful platform that enables you to analyze and visualize your network in a variety of ways.

In addition to analysis SocialBro also enables you to grow your network and schedule tweets for Hootsuite or Buffer directly within their platform.

Here is a snapshot of their homepage:

Some of their other features include:

  • Explore Your Twitter Community
  • Determine the Best Time to Tweet
  • Identify Influencers
  • Target Your Audience with Precision
  • Discover and Easily Follow Targeted Twitter Users
  • …and more!

3. MentionMap

4. Twitonomy

Twitonomy is a powerful Twitter anayltics platform that I discovered after it’s founder @MattFyot reached out to me on Twitter.

This free service is actually very robust, and I am impressed with all of the different methods of analysis it offers.

To give you a better idea here is a screen capture of my Twitonomy profile:

5. 5K Twitter Browser

5K Twitter Browser is a very cool way to explore the followers of your followers.  The only downside to this app is that there are no links to the profiles, you need to enter the usernames into Twitter directly to check people out, and longer usernames cannot be entirely seen. 5k-twitter-browser

6. Twitter Counter

Twitter Counter is  a way to visualize and track the growth of your own followers, and even compare your growth to the growth of other users.

Below is a graph they generated showing my follower growth during the last month.

7. Visible Tweets

Visible Tweets is a way to view tweets based on keyword or username.

This Twitter visualization Tool is basically a screen saver featuring your tweets.

Here is a video I recorded with a quick demo of this tool.

8. Tweetstats

Tweetstats is, you guessed it, statistics for Twitter. And robust statistics at that. Check this tool out for a glimpse into your tweeting style and tendancies.

9. Twistori

Twistori is an elegant way to view a scrolling stream of tweet containing the emotive words: I love, I hate, I think, I believe, I feel, and I wish.

This is a pretty interesting way to get a feel for the pulse of Twitter.

twistori10. Tweepsmap

TweepsMap is a cool tool that shows you where your followers are in the world.

With this tool you can map the effectiveness and distribution of your following.

Below you can see a screen capture of the map TweepsMap generated of my following, which has the greatest concentration in the US and Canada, but is also widely distributed throughout the world.

#Get 10000 #Twitter #Followers #Fast

Posted: 31 Jan 2014 08:54 PM PST

By: Quinn Robins (@Boost4Social on Twitter).

This post contains a podcast I recently recorded with my Australian friend and Twitter Expert Keith Keller.

how-to-get-twitter-followers-fast

Getting-Twitter-Followers-FAST.mp3 (10:15 – 9.38mb)

There are several reasons it is awesome to get tens of thousands of Twitter followers.

Those who have plenty of followers enjoy the benefits of increased influence, more retweets, and a more powerful Twitter network.

These compeling benefits of followers often sparks the question: How do I get more Twitter followers?

From my experience the fastest free way to get twitter followers is by initiating connections by following other people first.

Those who have a marketing budget can gain followers even faster than sending paid traffic to their Twitter account by jump-starting their network and investing into more  Twitter followers.

The more followers you have the more people will respect you as a leader in your niche…

…and the more followers you already have the easier it is to get even more followers.

With many people following you every day it is hard to follow back everyone worth following, but I do my best to follow back the cool people who follow me and especially those who RT my content and engage with me.

If you decided to grow your Twitter network by following other people you should be aware of following limitations that Twitter imp prevent mass following and use should use caution when you are building your network since Twitter is fast to suspend new accounts that follow aggressively.

The first limit Twitter uses stops users from following more than 2,000 people until you have 2,000 followers.  The second limit stops you from following more than 1,000 people a day.  To avoid risking account suspension you should use caution when following others and follow no more than 100 or 200 new accounts a day.

One way to instantly bypass the following limitations is by purchasing Twitter followers from a service like Grow My Twitter Network.

getmoretwitterfollowers.com-logo

Followers are cool so be cool to your followers.  Share high quality content with them that they will want to retweet.

Getting retweets is a great way to spread your content beyond some new network and pick up some new followers in the process.

Many people are willing to follow back if you decide to follow them, so by following these people you can gain many mutual connections.

2,000 high quality people who typically follow back are listed below, in this post.

I have uploaded a .txt file with this list and if you have the program TweetAdder you can download this list and import this .txt file into your "To Follow" queue and follow these people automatically.

Here is a list I created of 2,000 cool people who usually follow back: 2000-follow-back.txt

If you do not own TweetAdder I recommend you grab a copy!  It is a powerful tool for building organic connections on Twitter.

How to get followers on twitter fast with tweet adder

If you decide to buy TweetAdder you can get a free bonus and discount from me if you purchase through my TweetAdder review.

you can follow these people manually by clicking the "Follow" button via the links below.

Tweet-Adder-Software

The 2,000 people on the list in this post are only a small fraction of the people on Twitter who are willing to follow you back. I have built over 100,000 for myself and the businesses I have worked with using this method and I am confident you can do the same.

Many people scan your tweets before following back, so tweet useful and cool content and your follow back ratio will increase. The more cool content you tweet, the more retweets you'll net, and getting more retweets is a great way to get more twitter followers.

List Atlas is a  Twitter lists directory that has many sources for Twitter lists and twitter follow back lists.

There are marketing lists, social media lists, location specific lists, etc.

Here are the 100 top follow back twitter lists compiled by graphics.ms, with thousands of people in these lists ready to follow you back.

twitter-superhero

Once you find a follow back list, or any twitter list that you like, you can import the people on that list into TweetAdder and follow them automatically.  Of course you could manually surf to each profile in your web browser if you want to connect with any of these people.

By building your twitter follower base using the strategy described above you will be able to acquire many followers fast, but your network will not be as strong as if you built connections with people based on shared interests.

You can get 10,000 followers instantly with the service Grow My Twitter Network.

Although TweetAdder software makes building followers easy, it can make your main news feed very noisy.

To avoid too much noise in your Twitter news feed there are a two things you can do.

  1. You can follow only a few people.
  2. You can create Twitter lists and follow those streams instead of your main stream.

Both options work, but I prefer the second option!

10 golden rules of twitter

Posted: 31 Jan 2014 01:57 PM PST

10-golden-rules-of-twitter-new

If you ever wanted to know what the traits of highly successful Twitter users you've come to the right place.  The 10 Golden Rules of Twitter will help make you a  Twitter success by modeling the masters.

Brian Solis, Chris Brogan and myself engage with the following Twitter tactics on a daily basis, and you will find most if not all of them exhibited by any successful social media guru.  Apply these strategies to your own Twitter presence and your following will start to really grow.

You get out of Twitter what you put in to it so invest time into networking and engaging on a daily basis and the good karma that you build will compound and come back to you in time!

1. Reciprocity is Key

Follow and be followed, Retweet and be retweeted, follow and be followed.  You have got to give in order to get, and the more time you are willing to invest in others the more likely they are to give you the time of day.  Reciprocity is a powerful thing, and the main reason for the 255,000 followers I have currently, and the 400,000+ followers I have been able to build for the various accounts I have managed.

Once your network grows to several thousand followers don't let it get to your head, I try to respond to everyone who is not an ass that sends me an @mention, and I even respond to some of the asses.  Haha, but seriously this is key if you want to build a big brand and a strong network.  Look at any Twitter giant and you will see that they have thousands and thousands of tweets and many are conversational.  You've got to talk to people to really connect with them, it's just that simple.

2. Schedule Your Golden Tweetsgolden-tweet

Twitter traffic varies throughout the day, and throughout the week.  The busiest time on Twitter is at the end of the work day, between 3-5pm.  Weekdays are far busier than weekends, and Thursday and Friday are the busiest days of the week.  If you have solid content tweet it out when it can have the greatest impact.

Take a note from the most retweeted tweets of 2010 to get an idea of what works.

The golden tweet of 2011 shows that offering an incentive for retweets works. I have used a tactic similar to the Wendy's tweet below to net over 100 retweets.

In 2012 the most tweeted tweet of the year, and of all time, was from Barack Obama with his election victory tweet "Four more years."

3. Twitter Tools are Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Of course I have a bias having written the Twitter Tools Book, but Twitter Tools really are the bomb.  From Hootsuite, to Manage Flitter, to Twitter Marketing Software, to TweetDeck (which just sold for $30 million), and the list goes on.

By learning how Twitter Tools can work for you, you will give yourself  a competitive advantage over millions of others who neglect these powerful tools.

4. List Liberally

These days people tend to pay more attention to the people who list them than the people who follow them.  Some people recklessly auto-follow people, and this I do not recommend, but it still happens and these robotic follows devalue the action following someone.  To really get someone's attention the best way is to talk to them, and listing is a powerful method as well.

Create lists for your different interests, for example I have a runners list, an entrepreneurs list, and a Twitter Tools list.  Tweet about your lists and there is a good chance that people will follow them.  If your list gains enough followers it will gain greater visibility in list directories like Listorious.

5. Engage

engageThis tip is straight from my friend Brian Solis, and it has worked exceptionally well.  Brian has a massive network at this point and yet he still responds to every comment on his blog and to comments on his Facebook walls and on Twitter.  This takes plenty of effort but it is the reason why Brian has so much influence.  To learn more about this method I recommend that you grab a copy of  Brian's book Engage!

6. Relationships Take Time

Relationships are not instantaneous, the take communication and sharing over time.  To build deeper relationships with people you meet on Twitter it might make sense to connect with them on Facebook as well.

To facilitate Facebook connections I created a custom design for my Twitter background that features a link to my Facebook profile.  On my blogs I try to respond to anyone who leaves a comment if it makes sense to do so.  If they have a blog as well I might take a minute and visit it to return the favor.

7. Add Value

This point has been key to my success on Twitter, and my ability to achieve thousands of retweets.  Even if you are not an avid content creator you can still add serious value by sharing awesome content.

Use Twitter Lists to create streams of people who share the best information and then share the  best content that they share.  Browse the biggest blogs to find the best content and create lists of epic content.  The more value you are able to add the more people will people will realize that you are a valuable person to follow!

8. Don't Focus on Selling

Everyone likes to buy things but no-one likes to be sold.  Twitter is a place to build relationships, and if you focus on doing that people will click your links and look for products that you have to offer.  Focus on the connections and the cash will flow.

9. You are Your Brand

Resist the urge to use your profile picture as your avatar.  You are your brand, so act respectable if you want respect.  Try not to spam Twitter will dozens of Tweets in as many minutes.  I tend to tweet about one tweet an hour, sometimes a little more, sometimes much less.  Conversational tweets don't count, as they are only seen by people who are following both people tweeting.

10. Remember that Twitter is Still a Baby

Although Twitter is a household word at this point it is still only about 5 years old and it's only been mainstream for less than two.  This means that there are still epic developments to come.  By having knowledge about the latest and greatest tools and tips you will be ahead of the curve and you will be able to skyrocket your Twitter success.  Sign up for our free Twitter Course and we will let you know about our latest articles when they go live.

essential acronyms

Understanding social media terminology is critical for success across many different genres of work.

Below, we've compiled an essential glossary of social media acronym's so you can tweet with confidence and fit what you want to say within 140 characters.

• APIApplication Program Interface.

API is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. Although APIs are designed for programmers to use as building blocks, they're ultimately good for users, too, because they guarantee that all programs using a common API will have similar interfaces.

• CCCarbon-copy.

Works the same way as email. So if you're mentioning someone on Twitter and want to "copy" someone else in your tweet just include "CC: @ ___" and you're good.

• CPC/PPCCost Per Click/Pay Per Click.

This method of advertising on a search engine entails an agreement to pay a certain amount every time someone clicks on your ad.

• CRMCustomer relationship management.

CRM entails all aspects of interaction a company has with its customer, both sales and service related.

Social CRM (SCRM or CRM 2.0) builds upon CRM by leveraging a social element that enables a business to connect customer conversations and relationships from social networking sites into the CRM process.

• DMDirect message.

A DM is a direct message sent via Twitter that only you and the recipient can see, kind of like a Twitter text message. The user you want to send a direct message to must be following you.

To send, begin your message with "d username" or use the direct message inbox on Twitter.

• FBFacebook.

FB is commonly used as a short form for Facebook.

With the selective tweets app you can send a tweet to Facebook as a status update by including the #fb hashtag within any tweet.

selective-tweets-facebook-app

• FFFollowFriday.

On Twitter, #followfriday or #ff is an endorsement used to call attention to a user's favorite followers on Twitter. When you tweet a FF message, you're recommending that your followers also check out the people you mention in your post.

• HTMLHypertext Markup Language.

HTML is the standard text-based computer language for creating electronic (hypertext) documents for the web.

• MT: Modified Tweet.

Use this prefix and the username of the person who the tweet you are sharing originally came from to let people know that you are sharing a tweet that you have modified.

• RSSReally Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary.

rss-3d

When you see an orange button that looks like audio waves, alongside sharing buttons for Twitter, Facebook, and the like – that's how to access a site's RSS feed.

RSS is a syndication of data which enables subscribers to access up-to-the-minute blog entries directly from a website. Users may subscribe to any RSS and compile a personalized library of feeds on topics of interest, using tools like Google Reader and Feedburner.

Tip: Every Twitter Feed has a corresponding RSS feed.  To access your Twitter RSS feed simply swap {USERNAME} with your username in the link below.

http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name={USERNAME}

• RTRetweet.

A retweet is a tweet that has been repeated. You can retweet by clicking the "retweet" button on a tweet (the original tweet will be sent to your followers in its entirety), or manually typing in RT, followed by the user's handle, followed by their tweet (you can shorten or modify the tweet or add in your own commentary).

• SEMSearch engine marketing.

Nope, it's not a scanning electron microscope. SEM stands for "search engine marketing." It's a form of Internet marketing that helps websites gain traffic from or visibility on search engines. How? Through optimization (both on-page and off-page) and advertising (paid placements, contextual advertising, paid inclusions).

• SEOSearch Engine Optimization.

The letters stands for Search Engine Optimization, and the term encompasses the tactics used to increase the visibility of a website in a search engine's natural or un-paid (referred to as "organic") search.

SEO is the web equivalent of PR in the off-line world, wherein SEO experts are employed to increase the odds of a website's favorable positioning in search results. If you want more people to find and read your content, you need more than funny headlines and well-crafted text. That's where SEO comes in. Check out this beginner's guide for more.

• SMSocial Media.

• SMMSocial Media Marketing.

Just as the name suggests, SMM is a way of using social media platforms to market your concept, brand, product, self, etc.

• SMOSocial Media Optimization. SMO is the process of increasing awareness of a product, brand, business, person, or event by using social media outlets and communities to generate viral publicity. SMO includes the use of RSS feeds, social news and bookmarking sites, social media networks, and video and blogging sites. The practice is similar to SEO (see above) in that the goal is to drive traffic.

• SNSocial Network. SN is shorthand for any of the social networks you know and love: Twitter, Facebook, GooglePlus, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.

• SROISocial Return on Investment. Just as Return on Investment, in the business world, refers to the percentage profit earned from a specific activity, SROI describes the payoff on time, energy, and money spent on social media activity and/or marketing.

• UGCUser Generated Content. You might also see it as CGM (Consumer Generated Media) or UCC (User Created Content). It's exactly what it sounds like – think Yelp, YouTube, Wikipedia. Remember back in 2006 when Time magazine's Person of the Year was "you"? The concept of user generated media has only expanded since then.

• XMLExtensible Markup Language. Similar to but much more capable than HTML, XML is a computer "metalanguage" designed primarily to enable different types of computers to exchange text, data, and graphics by allowing files to be shared, stored, and accessed under different application programs and operating systems.
